Anesthesiology - Facilities

The facilities provided in our Operation theatres and recovery room which adhere to the international standards are as follows:

1. Anesthetic machines giving adequate oxygen at all times/ Oxygen monitoring
2. Anesthetic gas monitors One of these is available in every theatre unmatched even in the developed world. These monitors let us use extremely low fresh gas flows lesser than 500mls resulting in extreme economy, and negligible theatre pollution.
They monitor the following continuousl

  • Oxygen
  • Carbon dioxide
  • Nitrous oxide
  • Anesthetic gases
  • 3. Patient monitors

    • ECG
    • Blood pressure
    • Oxygen saturation
    • Invasive pressures such as arterial pulmonary artery central venous
    • Temperature
    • Airway pressures and gas volumes
    • Neuromuscular function monitoring, Entropy, BIS
    • Depth of anesthesia monitoring using BIS, entropy
    • TEE during the intra operative period in cardiac surgeries to diagnose valve dysfunction and regional to all dysfunction

    4. Cardiac monitoring

    • Thermo dilution cardiac output, Flowtrac, TEE
    • Continuous cardiac output
    • Continuous mixed venous saturation

    5. Equipment making most complicated surgery safe

    • Bair Huggers & disposable blankets to keep patient warm
    • Blood warmers
    • Syringe pumps, infusion pumps
    • Blood gas and electrolyte machine, Glucometers
    • Fiberoptic Laryngoscope, TEG, SCD Pumps
    • Ultrasound and transthoracic and transoesophageal ECHO and regional blocks

    6. Newer drugs freely available

    • Fentanyl
    • Sevoflurane
    • Propofol
    • Desflurane
    • Newer muscle relaxants, Newer local anesthetics

    7. Latest disposable airway equipment

    • LMAS, IGEL

    8. Three fully equipped post operative recovery rooms with monitoring equipment as in the operating rooms.
