Emergency & Trauma Centre - F1 Team Apollo
Under the supervision and guidance of Dr.Priyadarshini Pal Singh (HOD, Deptt. HOD Accident & Emergency, Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals) a strong team of 85 peoples including specialists, Doctors, Paramedic staff etc. will be deputed at Buddh Internatioanl Circuit (Greater Noida) for the upcoming Formula 1 Race.
Our Army of Medical personnel has been assigned multiple tasks, which includes deployment of Doctors & Paramedics in Medical Chase Car, 4 medical intervention vehicles, 7 ambulances & 2 standby helicopters & specialist team of doctors will be stationed at world class equipped medical centre.
All the above mentioned teams will be in constant touch with race control room where Dr. Priya is appointed as DCMO race, from where she will direct all the Medical teams at the time of an accident.
Keeping in view of the High Intensity Impacts and Accidents during Formula 1 Race, the team has undergone rigorous training of more than 30 days during which they had been given Basic Life Support, Advance Cardiac Life Support & Trauma Life Support training for highest degree of preparedness.
Many practice session and drills were carried out on track, where real life car crash accident scenarios were imitated to assure safety of F1 drivers during real time accidents right from extrication to ambulance transfer and Medical Centre Care. A helicopter drill was also done by lifting a dummy patient from BIC and transferring to Apollo hospital’s new in-house helipad.
A lot of emphasis was laid down during Practice to check responsiveness and communication of the team, as it is very important during such high adrenaline rush races that messages are properly conveyed on from Race control to respective team and vice versa.
