Though mythically chilies have been considered to be a contributory factor
for many gastrointestinal irritations and even linked with increased risk of
various kinds of cancer.
On the contrary it has been discovered now that they actually have unique
nutritional and anti cancer attributes.
Hot and flavoury chillies are the most packed source of vitamin C and the
carutinoids - the precursors of vitamin A.
The Red pigment of chillies is rich in bioflavoroids. The most powerful
antioxidants that are credited with preventing many diseases.
The "heat " in the chillies comes from capsaicin - a fat solcible
bitter compound capsaicin is concentrated mainly in the while ribs and seeds
of the fruit.
Capsaicin is also an antiinflammatory and analgesis agent for external
human use. Further it also helps in rapid digestion by stimulating
salvation, gastric secretion and gutmotility
It is claimed that "eating chilies may cause the stomach to secrete
more mucus which protects its lining against corrosion by irritants such as
acid. Burning pain on the tongue and throat excite the brain to secrete
endorphin- natural morphine which blocks pain sensations and induces a kind
of euphoria.
How ever in conclusion, the use of chillies should be in moderation as
excessive use may irritate the gastrointestinal tract and hence it is contra
indicated for those suffering from piles and colitis.
CAFFEINE - IS IT YOUR VEHICLE TO COFFINS :
In take of caffeine is increasing day by day in the form of coffee, tea
,coke , chocolate, chocolate flavored bakery products etc.
Caffeine has deleterious health effect, as it increases blood pressure,
induces cardiac palpitations as an extension of stress signed to the heart.
Caffeine intake releases adrenaline which acts as a stress depressant by
raising blood pressure. Caffeine is chemically methylxanthine, and similar
in structure to that of purive. So it plays the role of inhibitor in
biochemical reactions requiring ademine and guamine base. Thus caffeine
restricts the connession of cyclic adenosive mono phosphate (C-AMP) to
adenosive mono phosphate (AMP) and thereby hindus important biochemical
reaction in the body.
