The gastroenterology and hepatology unit serves as a referral centre for the whole country. Referrals have been also received from 15 foreign countries. Services offered include work-up for complex neonatal cholestasis including search of metabolic conditions, work-up and follow up of children with chronic liver disease of varied etiology, management of portal hypertension, interferon theraphy for patients with hepatitis B and C, diagnosis and management of chronic diarrhoea of varied etiology, dignosis and management of unusual gastrointestinal disorders and work up and management of the rcurrent abdominal pain, troublesome gastroesophageal reflux, intractable constipation.
